Yep, He's home! And he is SOOOOO HAPPPPPYYYYY.
Quick story, then we are going to decompress the rest of the night. And more over the next few days.
MRI Techs came in Thursday (I think Thursday). Carson asked if they needed to take the brace off and they said yes. Carson kindly told them there was no way they were taking his brace off. They said...Ummm, OK. Turns out...the MRI wasn't that important at this phase.
Then, we hoped and somewhat expected Carson would get admitted to Rehab Friday, latest Saturday. No insurance approval Friday or Saturday. No bed available today. When I walked in and told Carson and Barrie the news, we all immediately thought, no rehab, home.
So we told the trauma team, he's done and he wants to go home. The head of Trauma came in at about 11am and told us he would be home by dinner.
So we scrambled, headed home to finish a few things in preparation, ran back to the hospital to pick him up, picked up prescriptions and Canes chicken on the way home and got him UP THE STAIRS and in bed.
He's currently talking with friends, eating food, so comfortable in his bed and eating his chicken.
No, he's not very mobile. He rested 3 times to make it up 16 steps. He said he may not do that again for a couple days...But he made it. Almost no pain, and so happy to be back in his room! And we'll start rehab tomorrow, so he'll do the stairs again.
Chapter one...closed. Big breath, turn the page and tomorrow starts chapter two. We don't know how thick this book is or how many chapters it contains, but we know we are writing it together with what can only be described as unreasonable gratitude.

So great that Carson fought off the MR techs after the last fiasco 🙂 So good that he’s at home. So glad you’ll be there together for this next chapter. So blessed and lifted up because of your updates, though that may seem strange to you.

This is great news! I’m sure everyone is happier now that you are all at home- under the same roof. Baby steps for sure but this sounds like progress. Keep fighting for each win- even the little ones as they all add up! Carson keep powering thru as you are a determined and strong young man!
